PaperWise, Inc. launches fitness challenge, urging employees to get in gear
New in-house personal trainer to bring software buffs from a slouch to top
physical condition
Springfield, Mo. – January 5, 2006 – This year, PaperWise CEO Dan Langhofer has
taken New Year’s resolutions to heart enough for everyone in the office by offering
professionally facilitated workouts as a part the workday, three times a week.
"I started getting into shape because I wanted have more energy and be healthier. I
felt so much better that I realized how our employees could also benefit from workouts
and I wanted to make that available to them," Langhofer said. So, in lieu of their
regular lunch hours, some 25 employees will begin working out with a program aimed
at their specific fitness goals. The spacious basement of the PaperWise headquarters,
a building that was formerly a racquetball facilities and then a law firm, is equipped
with three workout rooms as well as a racquetball court where participants can lift
weights, do core or cardio exercises. By pairing participants with partners and helping
them to set personal fitness goals, their new trainer hopes to whip this office into
shape in just a few months. Evaluations measuring weight, inches, percent body fat and
endurance among other things, are carried out every five weeks to track everyone’s
progress. In addition to training during office hours, PaperWise is getting employees
involved outside the office with a football team, a softball team and a bowling league.
“Because our staff spends a great deal of time at our facilities, I want them to enjoy it as
much as possible. In addition to giving us an all-around better working environment, in-house
workouts have helped facilitate inter-departmental relationships and communication,” Langhofer said.
