The Latest PaperWise Versioning Updates

PaperWise has recently released some important product fixes and feature changes for PaperWise v6.4.2. Some of these updates may have a big impact for you in regards to convenience and efficiency.

We have also changed the way we release updates. We now release a cumulative update. Instead of releasing individual files for each fix or change, we are releasing all files that have changed since the original product release. This means you will have more files to put in place, but you will only have to update one time to obtain all current and previous updates.

A few of the most noteworthy updates include:

• Better performance when executing searches and displaying results in Query.
• The time to create a PDF for emailing in Query has been drastically reduced. This will only impact situations where the document is stored in PaperWise in PDF format and you are choosing to email it out as a PDF with annotations.
• Query has been updated to correctly display the most recent version of revised documents.
• Query Tabs can be saved so they are available each time you load PaperWise. The new options are available when you create a tab or right-click on a tab.

Workstation Updates

QUERY

• Significantly improved the time it takes to email large PDF documents with annotations out of Query. Affects files that are already in PDF format. The end user must have the "Export as PDF" box unchecked when emailing.
• Corrected an issue where some PDF's were being mailed as whole documents instead of a selected page range.
• Corrected a problem where revising documents with multiple tabs open would sometimes prevent the display of the latest revision of a document.
• Added new tab functionality. Tab colors can now be changed at creation time through the UI. Also, users have the ability to "pin" tabs to the database. "Pinned" tabs will be saved to the database for specific users and will automatically open when the user logs into Query.
• The time for Query to retrieve documents has been significantly decreased. This update will be most noticeable in WAN environments.
• Addresses an issue where the latest revision made to documents in Query was not refreshed on the system where the revision was done.
• Corrected an "Unsupported Image Format" error that would sometimes occur when emailing a page range of a document.
• Improved performance when emailing a page range of large documents.
• Made a change so that Query can better understand the page range syntax. For example, you can now specify individual pages along with a range.(example: 1,2,5-10)
• Corrected an issue where pages of a document were emailing out of order.
• Corrected an issue where multipage tiff documents were sometimes not viewable after emailing.
• Addresses an issue where emails originating from Adobe Acrobat\Reader via Outlook would not show attachment links when inserted and viewed in PaperWise.

OFFICE INTEGRATION

• Feature change which allows you to send emails into PaperWise from Outlook without including embedded images as attachments. Embedded images appear most commonly as company logos and other linked images in HTML formatted emails.
• Corrects an issue where email's with multiple attachments of the same name were overwriting each other when being "Sent to PaperWise" through Outlook. This fix will only work with Office 2003 and newer.

IMAGEWISE

• Addresses an issue where the "direct to database" sync event in ImageWise was not showing up in document history.
• Feature addition: You can now select "patch + code 3 of 9" as your barcode format in the ImageWise preferences for use with the latest Coversheet scanning plug-in.
• Affects Multiple Workstation Applications.
• Addresses an issue where some users were seeing an Application Error 13 on login.
• Addresses problems printing secured PDF's (such as those that have been digitally signed).

PAPERWISE EXPLORER

• The newest version of PaperWise Explorer allows custom plug-ins.
• Multiple behind the scenes enhancements have also been made to improve user experience.

PaperWise Remoting Updates

PROXY

• Corrects a problem where user list fields in ImageWise do not index correctly. Also addresses a problem where ImageWise could stall for several minutes when submitting a document.

WebWise Updates

WEBWISE

• Addresses an issue where users would receive an exception when trying to export large documents to PDF from WebWise.
• Corrects a problem with the WebWise Tree Control where users could not drill down to lower filters if a field value contained multiple sequential spaces.
