PaperWise Operations Manager Dan Murrill has worn
many hats during his more than 8 years with the company.
Previously the owner of a software company of his own, it is not
surprising that Dan currently plays such an integral role.
However, getting to where he is today took hard work and
perseverance.
Native to Missouri, Dan was forced to learn at a young age the importance of a strong work ethic which for him meant that failing was not an option. He remembers this drive to succeed being fed by something his uncle once told him. "He told me that if someone else can do it, so can I, and from that point on I had it in my head that there wasn't anything I couldn't accomplish," said Dan.
At the age of 14, Dan began working in the summertime to save money for the school year. Upon graduating as an honor student in Gainesville, Missouri, he started working for a factory in Kansas City. During this time Dan attended an Electronic Technical School, which landed him an interview with Burroughs Corp where he began his work with technology. It was here that he acquired computer training while he worked as a mainframe field engineer.
Thirteen years later, Dan took a position with Campbell 66 Express as a Data Communication System Analyst, and continued to work with the company until it closed. Shortly after, Dan was approached by a Freight brokerage and asked to build a software program; his can do attitude left no room for hesitation. He quickly put together a team of developers to write a software program for the brokerage, fixing computers and maintaining interim contract jobs to fund the project until it was finished.
The final product was a program called Keypoint, software that provides operations and dispatch, accounting, and office management specifically designed for carriers and intermediaries. Dan built a company around Keypoint that experienced growth and successes that led him to PaperWise. The two software companies provided services to common customers and in no time, Dan Murrill and Dan Langhofer began to build a business relationship.
In 2001, Dan sold Keypoint to TransCore, a leading provider of transportation solutions worldwide. He stayed with the company for three years as a Director until he joined PaperWise in 2004. Since his move, Dan has provided expertise in many areas including customer service, special projects, partner relations, and PSG. His recent move to Operations Manager has given him an opportunity to fully utilize his 40 plus years of industry experience.
When he isn't at the office, Dan's strong drive to succeed has led him to success in his extracurricular activities. He currently holds a 6th degree black belt in Goju Ryu Karate and is an instrument rated pilot. When he isn't breaking boards or flying planes, Dan enjoys outdoor activities like hunting and fishing. He can also be found with his wife of 38 years, Barbara, spending time with their daughter and granddaughters or traveling to see their son who lives in Canada.
