Tips and Tricks: Windows 7

Is PaperWise compatible with Windows 7?

The short answer is yes, PaperWise does run on both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 7. There are, however, a few things you will need to know that will make the installation process smoother and eliminate potential hiccups along the way.

Installing PaperWise on Windows 7

If the Windows 7 workstation is new and has not had any PaperWise product installed on it, you will need to download and install .NET 3.0 Framework, .NET 3.5 Framework, and Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package (x86) from the Microsoft site prior to installing PaperWise.

When you are ready to install PaperWise on the new Windows 7 workstation, you will first need to find the EnterpriseClient.exe file. Typically, this file will be on the network, usually on the PaperWise server. If there is not a folder explicitly labeled PaperWise Install Files or Install, look for a folder called PWData or search for the EnterpriseClient.exe on your PaperWise server.

Once you have found the EnterpriseClient.exe file and are ready to install there are a few things you will need to do to ensure a smooth install.

  1. Make sure you are logged in as an Administrator on the workstation.
  2. Right-click on the file and select the Run as Administrator option.
  3. After PaperWise has installed, you will need to run any batch files that install integrations for TAM, Vision, or any custom PaperWise applications you have.

What about Windows 7 64-bit?

If you are using the 64-bit version of Windows 7, you will need to contact PaperWise Support for a different print driver. You can reach support at 888-828-7505 or via email at support@paperwise.com between 7 AM and 7 PM Central time Monday through Friday.
